A
BRIEF HISTORY
Innovation Power Catamarans was formed in 1997 when Steve
Coetzee and Matthew Adisson decided to design a luxury catamaran
cruiser. The idea was to present a boat that had beautiful
European lines, massive on-board living space, blistering
performance and all the sea-keeping qualities associated with
a catamaran.
Drawing on his vast experience in designing commercial catamaran
ferries, Matthew set about designing the hull. It had to be
a planing hull for speed, and have enough volume to handle
adverse sea conditions often encountered in the Australian
waters. The design was tank tested at the Australian Maritime
College in Launceston, Tasmania and after some small adjustments
the trademark Innovation hull was finalised. Drawing on influences
from European cruiser manufacturers, a striking superstructure
was designed. Classic lines were favoured to ultra modernistic
curves and gimmicks to create a vessel which will look as
good 20 years from now as it does today. World renowned interior
designer, Juan Carlos Espinosa (www.espinosainc.com)
was contracted to design the plush interior. The first Innovation
was launched in 1999 and was a huge success. Performance was
better than expected with the boat reaching 35 knots with
little fuss and travelling comfortably in adverse sea conditions.
Today we are several boats down the track and still proudly
producing the Innovation 65 line from our modern factories
at the Gold Coast City Marina in Queensland, Australia. The
company is a family run business headed by Steve Coetzee and
son Pierre Coetzee. We have recently finalised the design
for the newcomer to our family, the Innovation 52 which is
already proving to be a popular addition. We believe our power
catamarans are the best designed and built power catamarans
in its size in the world today. We are steadily moving our
sales efforts off shore to bring the magnificent sea keeping
qualities and luxury to an international market. No matter
where you are, you are sure to see an Innovation in your area
soon. |
